Thinking outside the box, in these unsettling economic times, I have been thinking of new ways to save money for our clients. After receiving an interesting phone call request on Monday, I have hit on a wonderful idea that I do not think has been offered before!

I was asked by a desperate show choir director, where could he find patterns for show choir costumes for his booster parents to sew? My answer was, well, there are no show choir costume patterns available. Perhaps he needs crafty, resourceful and artistic booster parents with incredible hidden talents and skills.  I thought, wow-where is he going to find what he needs. Fabric stores do not carry show choir patterns. Maybe an evening gown or prom dress pattern could work out. But I know how difficult it is to expand sizes from your basic 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, up to a 26 or down to a 0 or child size, for example. And there are no built-in short or long torso options, as we have with our patterns.

Then I kept thinking about it, and I am launching a brand new service. I am calling it Simply SEW! Service by Satin Stitches. What is it?

We pattern and cut - you sew!

It is all the professional design service that we currently offer with one BIG difference-YOU do the sewing! All the preliminary work is done for you. Professional styling based on your ideas, professional patternmaking based on over 30 years in the performance apparel manufacturing business, CAD-computerized patternmaking, computerized sizing and computerized cutting. All you will need to do is sew all of the sized pieces into fabulous custom costumes for your dance groups!

All the headaches are removed! All the tricky patternmaking and perfectly proportioned costumes for all of your dancers sizes, are all ready for you. Sewing and trimming are tasks easily handled by your talented volunteer booster parents.

Do you have difficult to fit dancers such as big-busted girls, long and lanky girls, short-with hourglass figures? FIT THEM RIGHT THE FIRST TIME, without reworking. We have the expertise to do this.

Do you have champagne tastes, but a beer budget for costumes, but can you sew? We can now help you stretch your budget and get the best of both worlds. Custom designs for 25-50 percent LESS than what the fully completed Satin Stitches costumes.
