DWTS Season 27: Season Finale Costume Critique

Posted by Deborah Nelson on Tue, Nov 20, 2018 @ 16:11 PM

Oh, the controversy! Was I shocked? Not really, after indeed, being shocked that Juan Pablo and Cheryl didn’t have enough votes to make it to the Finale. Yes, I feel for all you viewers who still see “Dancing with the Stars!” as a bonafide ‘dance contest’ where whoever dances the best, (in several million ‘judges’ opinions) should ‘win’. Please get real! It is a popularity contest, with some fabulous dancing and fabulous (most of the time) costumes. Can’t we just enjoy the spectacle???

DWTS Season 27: Semi Final Costume Critique

Posted by Deborah Nelson on Tue, Nov 13, 2018 @ 20:11 PM

Did I hear ‘recount?’… We were all shocked, weren’t we? Obviously this week’s results may have shown that not everyone that felt Juan Pablo and Cheryl should be in the Finals, voted. They may have been lazy and not voted, or figured this couple was ‘safe’ and voted for others? But remember, this IS a popularity contest –it is NOT a dancing contest. Sure, I’m totally disappointed that we won’t be seeing Juan Pablo and Cheryl in the Finals, but it was fun while it lasted.

In any case…it was a fun and exciting evening of costumes (and dancing)! And I didn’t hate ANY costumes. Both the ‘Dedication Round’ and the ‘Judges Choice Round’ showed nothing but ‘fit for the finals’ costumes.

DWTS Season 27: Week 7 Costume Critique

Posted by Deborah Nelson on Tue, Nov 06, 2018 @ 14:11 PM

There is lots of emphasis on the country, this week, with many eliminations that will be voted for (and against)! Oh, and it was ‘Country Night’ on “Dancing with the Stars” this week!

Spooky and scary…who will go home this week? After our scare last week, but with no one going home after all, did everyone worry that two couples might be eliminated?? I did!

DWTS Season 27: Week 4 Costume Critique

Posted by Deborah Nelson on Tue, Oct 16, 2018 @ 16:10 PM

Trio Night on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ is always fun. This season, it seems that the show brought back more amateurs to compliment the Stars than in past years…this seems to be putting more pressure on the Pros to ‘whip into shape’ the Stars that may not have been practicing their dancing in the last several years since they were on the show.

DWTS Season 27: Week 3 Costume Critique

Posted by Deborah Nelson on Tue, Oct 09, 2018 @ 13:10 PM

Bravo, ‘Dancing with the Stars’ for keeping this week’s competition to One Night Only (a favorite song of mine, from a favorite musical “Dreamgirls”!) It was a poignant evening with lots of stories about both the ‘Stars’ and the ‘Pros’, as it was “Most Memorable Year” Night.

DWTS Season 27: Week 2 Vegas Night Costume Critique

Posted by Deborah Nelson on Wed, Oct 03, 2018 @ 17:10 PM

Oh, my, but was I wrong! I expected a replay of Week 1, with Tuesday night being a recap of the previous evening with lots of ‘fill’. No, no, no! It was an entire show with 12 new dance performances along with 12 new sets of costumes for all the competitors. My head is still spinning!

DWTS Season 27: Week 2 New York City Night Costume Critique

Posted by Deborah Nelson on Wed, Oct 03, 2018 @ 17:10 PM

‘Dancing with the Stars’ New York City Night...my favorite city!

DeMarkus and Lindsay started the competition with performing a Fox Trot in costumes without much glitz. (New York City without glitz??) None the less, their costumes were pleasant with DeMarkus in a pin-striped wool-look, vest and trousers ensemble with pleasant accessories of shirt, tie and wingtips. Any guy would look dapper in this non-costume. Lindsay was cute in her sheer, flower-printed skirt and short-sleeved tie-front top with a few rhinestones. Nice is an appropriate adjective.

DWTS Season 27: Week 1 Costume Critique

Posted by Deborah Nelson on Wed, Sep 26, 2018 @ 15:09 PM

Oh my, but the costume department has been very busy preparing for TWO new “Dancing with the Stars” shows, haven’t they? During the Results Show on Tuesday night, we were shown a preview and introduction to the “DWTS: Juniors” show that will premiere on October 7th.

I am sorry to disappoint, but I will NOT be writing my Costume Critique blogs on this show…BUT as you can see, I’m ‘all in’ on Season 27 of DWTS. I simply do not have the time, as right now is the busiest design and manufacturing time of our Satin Stitches’ season.

I will say that I enjoyed seeing the kid’s costuming – both the black costumes and the red costumes and was delighted that all were modest and suitable for ‘youngsters’! I am hoping that the Season 27 DWTS settles in to one show per week. Four hours per week includes WAY TOO MANY hours of ‘fill’, in my humble opinion.
