February E-News

Satin Stitches Photo Shoot 2016It is difficult to believe that it is already February, isn’t it? It’s been a weird winter, but we look forward to spring!

‘Early Bird’ Discounts have officially started! We are calling all thrifty, plan-ahead coaches because NOW is the time to design and order next season's team costumes from Satin Stitches (and get fantastic discounts while you're at it).

While you finish up your 2016-2017 season, you can start looking to the future by working with our design team to create new costuming for your 2017-2018 season. And save some serious cash.

Right away this month, we have scheduled our first photo shoot of the year. (The above re-imagined photo is from our last year’s photo shoot.) Follow Satin Stitches on social media to see what all the fuss is about! We have been designing NEW styles for our Web Store. We will have these new styles added to our customizable Audition and Pro Apparel very soon. And if you need last minute pre-designed, customizable team costuming be sure and shop our Dance & Cheer Practice Wear.

It’s also worth a mention of our Promotional $5 towards any dance costume order, when you purchase a pair of Pastry Dance Sneakers through our Web Store.

HOT Costume Care 'TIP OF THE MONTH'!

'A Stitch in Time Saves Nine'

Preventative care for your costumes is important! 'A stitch in time saves nine' is sage advice, and it could possibly save you some embarrassment, too!

Here are a few pointers for making preventative care a part of your costume routine:

  • When you receive your new costumes or when you pull out your old costumes from your costume closet, always inspect the stitching.
  • Check for dangling/hanging threads. Don't pull on them, just investigate! If it is a chain stitch, it will totally unravel the seam if you pull on it.
  • If it is NOT a chain stitch, check to see if there is a break in the stitching. If so, restitch this area closed before you trim off the dangling/hanging thread.
  • Check to see if there are any missing stitches anywhere on your costume. Doing this could prevent a wardrobe malfunction that was just waiting to happen!

Remember, a well-timed restitch may avert an unraveling costume - and could possibly save you from embarrassment happening during your performance!

Be sure to pay attention to the details and always practice preventative care with your performance garments.
