Proper Fit of a Pro-Cheer Bra-Top

At Satin Stitches, we just had a conversation with a young lady who is planning on ordering an audition bra-top from our Web Store. She wanted some advice on which style was best for her. She had recently ordered an audition bra-top from a competitor of ours, and found the fit very lacking – especially when she tried to move. As she described, the top pulled up and created ‘under-cleavage’. Nothing caused the bra-top to stay in place, especially when dancing – which seems to be VERY important for an audition bra-top, don’t you agree?

Proportionally Fit Bra Top from Satin StitchesOur Satin Stitches’ audition bra-tops are created with princess-seaming to mold and shape over the bustline (in 3 cup sizes), is patterned to correctly cup and hold the bustline, and has a difficult to construct, but is so important – non-roll underbust band that secures the bra-top to the chest. It will never shift and expose the bosom.

At Satin Stitches, we pride ourselves on creating costumes and uniforms that have high quality design, fit and construction. Today I’m addressing fit.

Most companies have developed their own Size Measurement Charts. Most dance costume companies offer a limited amount of size options. Check out the size charts for other company’s and compare to our comprehensive Satin Stitches size chart.

We offer sizes that encompass 2” intervals in the circumference for the bustline from 30” through 40” and for hips from 32” through 42”. Our competitors do NOT offer this range and/or they have inconsistent 1” vs 2” vs 3” between sizes that doesn’t make sense. (Note: we also have our Child and Extended Sizes, as well as Men’s sizing.) Additionally, we offer SHORT and LONG torso, leg and sleeve lengths, in addition to our MEDIUM lengths. Our competitors DO NOT readily offer these options.

Not on our charts, but noted with our bra-tops: We offer our standard cup size of B/C on our pro-cheer tops, as well as Full (D/DD cup) and Extra Full (larger than DD cup). If you need full coverage – you have this option with Satin Stitches!

Also very important, is how a costume or uniform fits. We have a custom dress form that is made to our exact Sample Size measurements. So when a sample costume or uniform is patterned, cut and sewn, we put it on our dress form to determine if it does fit. More importantly, a garment needs to fit when the wearer is performing the movements that the person/group will be doing, while wearing their costume or uniform. When our groups critique their sample, they must check on how well the garment performs. We work with a fit model at our shop to test our new styles for our Web Store. Nothing is more important that having a costume or uniform that performs and fits well.

So rest assured that if you order your correct bra-top costume or uniform size, your bra-top will stay in place and perform WITH you. And if you are unsure of what your size should be, please call us – we are the fit experts!
